The early incorporation of IT and technology aspects will become even more crucial to Baloise’s business success in future and is therefore of great strategic importance. In anticipation of this, the Board of Directors of Bâloise Holding Ltd has decided to introduce a new corporate division, Group IT, with effect from the first quarter of 2019. It will complement the existing corporate divisions (CDs): CD Finance, CD Switzerland, CD Asset Management and CD Corporate Centre. The new corporate division will be headed by Alexander Bockelmann as Chief IT Officer (CTO). He will report directly to CEO Gert De Winter.
“Alexander Bockelmann is a proven expert in IT, digitalisation and transformation in the insurance industry and has almost two decades of experience. I am delighted that we have him on board for the tasks ahead,” says Gert De Winter, Group CEO.
Prior to his appointment as CTO of the Baloise Group, Alexander Bockelmann, who has a PhD in geosciences, worked for UNIQA Insurance Group AG, which he joined in 2013. His most recent position was Chief Digital Officer on the Management Board. Other previous roles include working at Allianz and the Boston Consulting Group. Dr Bockelmann will take up his position at the Baloise Group on 1 February 2019.
